Taking care of elderly family members can be rewarding, yet difficult and overwhelming at the same time. Juggling family, work and home care services for a loved one can be time consuming and physically and emotionally draining. It is difficult for adult children to watch a parent age and lose their sense of independence. Even more difficult are the feelings the parent experiences as age sets in along with perhaps decreased mobility and health. The dynamic between parent and child changes and becomes challenging as parents age. Sometimes conflict grows from feelings of fear. Home care providers can offer a range of solutions to assist with this difficult transition, and make it manageable and successful.
“Home care aims to make it possible for people to remain at home rather than use residential, long-term, or institutional-based nursing care. Home care providers render services in the client’s own home. These services may include some combination of professional health care services and life assistance services.” (Source: Wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_care)
